The doctor will perform a physical examination to check for any visible changes in the skin for a yellowish tint indicating jaundice. A blood test may be done to check the amount of bilirubin and to rule out other infections. Ultrasound and abdominal CT scan might be done to get the images of the abdomen.

Laparoscopic surgery is the best option for the removal of gallstones. It requires minimal incision and enables faster recovery from surgery.
Yes. In some cases, if the gallstones are less than 1cm in size they can be dissolved with medications and by drinking plenty of water.
The extent of the severity of the problem depends on the size of the gallstones. However, with various advancements, gallstones can be removed with a simple laparoscopic procedure that takes less than 30 minutes.
Untreated gallstones can block the gallbladder and pancreas, cause inflammation of the bile duct and gallbladder, and there are chances that ignored gallstones can increase the risk of gallbladder and pancreatic cancer.
Foods to avoid when you are diagnosed with gallstones are high-fat foods, fried foods, high-fat dairy, processed meats, sugary desserts and alcohol.
Liquid foods, simple, bland nutrient-dense foods, high-fibre foods like sprouts, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains are ideal to consume after gallbladder surgery.
Under general anaesthesia, a small incision is made in the abdomen to insert a tiny camera. The footage is displayed on the screen which guides the doctor to perform the surgery.
Some of the risks associated with gallbladder surgery are a reaction to anaesthesia, bleeding, blood clots, damage to blood vessels, infection, pancreatitis, injury to the bile duct, liver, or small intestine.
It takes 4 - 6 weeks of time to recover from a traditional gallbladder surgery and to get back to work.
